Injury Rehabilitation - The next step on your journey to recovery

When suffering from pain and/or injuries, people will often seek temporary treatments such as massage primarily for pain relief. However, people often disregard the underlying mechanisms which caused the injury to happen in the first place. Without addressing these underlying issues it is inevitable these injuries will keep reoccurring.

At The Health and Fitness Lab we follow a systematical approach to determine the root cause of these injuries, rebuild the structural integrity of the body to restore function and build a robustness to prevent future injuries.

Screening & Testing

During your initial assessment we will utilise a variety of movement screening tests to assess mobility and symmetry. Then, utilise a variety of unilateral and bilateral tests to assess muscular strength and endurance, as well as any potential muscular imbalances.

Bespoke Rehabilitation

Using the data obtained from your screening and testing results, alongside any previous medical information provided, we will work closely alongside our other clinicians to formulate the most effective rehabilitation programme for you.

Injury Prevention

Once the initial injury has been fully rehabilitated, we then utilise a range of exercises to strengthen specific muscles in order to; build robustness, address imbalances / asymmetries and prevent reoccurring injuries.

Our 3-stage approach to rehabilitation

1.) Recovery of joint mobility and range of motion

Following sufficient rest allowing for a reduction in pain and swelling, the first step is to restore full range of motion in the affected joint.

2.) Recovery of muscle strength and endurance

Next, the aim is to restore muscular strength and resilience before building endurance. Here, its important to strengthen not only the injured muscle but also those supporting it in a safe and effective manner.

3.) Recovery of function

Once muscular strength of the specific muscles have been restored, we progress to restoring function of the body as a whole, focusing on factors such as; proprioception, balance, coordination, agility and speed.
